Obamavision

Hungry, Destitute and Dependent!

It is amazing, to this day, we know nothing about Obama except what he has allowed in order to maintain his composite.  Say what you will about his Birth Certificate, but truth is there is alot of forensic evidence put forth lately to seriously doubt even that part of his past.

The problem with all of the unknown documentation of a man who made it into the highest and most powerful office in the world is that he continues to hide his past.  I'm speaking of course of the record he cannot sanitize for consumption.

We had glimpses of his past associations that gave us an idea of who this unknown man who rose from obscurity to the top.  His ties to ACORN; Bill Ayers; Bernadine Dohrn; Rev. Jeremiah Wright, etc.  We heard about those associations and what they mean in regards to their radical, violent and socialist leanings.  He had the media to ignore those stories and instead puffed him up as the "One"!  The script was flawless as he stood up on the world stage and read from his teleprompter.  The country became mesmorized by this African American and gave us the chance to elected him and put away those accusations that we are still a nation of racist views.  He played upon the sympathies of us who were war weary and tired of the infighting and corruption of our elected leaders and his vision was deceptive as much as it was intoxicating.

Now, after 3 1/2 years, we know we were sold a bill of goods by a snake oil salesman.  We were looking at his left hand, which was holding the illusion of hope and change while his right was a clenched iron fist.  Americans, true Americans who love this country for its freedom, tolerance and kindness see the man behind the mask for what he is and we also see those who are trying to maintain this caricature at all costs.  The cost is hugh as we now know.

Every now and then along the way the "Wizard of Oz" had his curtain pulled aside and we saw the man for what he is.  For instance, the slip Obama gave when approached by "Joe the Plumber".  The Wizard was for wealth redistribution.  So is the tenants/platform of ACORN; Bill Ayers; Bernadine Dohrn as well as the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.  The character dots were connected.

Obama and his team of destroyers have spent an incredible amount of money on polling and focus groups to guide them perilously through their troubled waters and knew that Socialized medicine would not be accepted by the majority of Americans yet they forced it down our throats.  The backlash from us was to throw out those who perpetrated this destructive socialism upon us in 2010.

Let me be clear here, the GOP is also adrift in Oz.  The GOP leadership have their sleigh of hand rhetoric they are trying to deploy as a result of the Tea Party.  They know that we do not want Obamacare so they talk boldly of "Repeal and Replace".  Repeal and Replace to them is a good and ssfe soundbite but they just don't get it, we like the "Repeal" part of their soundbite, it is the "replace" part that we do not want.

Glen Beck just held an event in Texas where he filled a 65,000 seat stadium of Americans who are like us in the Tea Party.  The 65,000 strong paying audience listened to Beck's vision with anticipation and hope.  Ted Cruz was one of the inspirational speakers at the event and I will link his speech for you to hear:



We, the private sector lovers of individual freedom also spoke loudly when the battlefield lines arrived in the State of Wisconsin.  Public sector unions and unions in general are part and parcel of the socialism cancer within us.  We excised it from our American body and sent another message to those who want to stamp out what has made American exceptionalism, exceptional.

During the Republican Presidential Primaries Newt Gingrinch boldly stated that he wanted to be "the Paycheck President, not the Food Stamp President".  Gingrinch understands we do not want a handout, we want to work and in order to find the kind of jobs we were accustomed to are nowhere to be found in the land of Oz.

We know unemployment is higher than Oz is telling us.  We know that there are more Americans on food stamps than ever before and climbing.  We know that the poverty level in America is as high as it ever was.  In the land of Oz, the Wizard has us just where he wants us.

The collective road to individual liberty



The rise of the Tea Party and those candidates that were endorsed by them are the front lines of the battle for America's return to individual liberty.

Since Obama was elected, actually even before his accension, we have watched America become a "post Constitutional" society (as Mark Levin aptly coined it).  No longer do we trust Republicans or Democrats to have our best interest in mind as they have gone about their way in eroding our personal liberties through radical, un-American legislation, legal fiat or outright illegal activity.

For instance, when the Democrats forced Obamacare down our collective throats in such an underhanded way we began to really sit up and take notice.  Not only did we sit up, we got up and marched into the streets of America, all across America in a genuine and "collective voice" in order to regain our "individual" liberty that our Constitution grants us.  Don't misunderstand me, I HATE the word collective because of the socialist/marxist/communist conetations it evokes, but in this case "collective" is exactly the right word to describe what is transpiring here.

No longer can we rely on the United States Supreme Court to be our "backstop" or last line of defense to ensure the Constitution is applied as it was intended.  The long list of ursurpage of Constitutionality that have been handed down by this body of arbiters is easy enough to recall, even to the layman on the streets who do not posess a high school diploma.  The Roe v. Wade decision comes to mind as well as the Kelo decision.  In the first the court created out of whole cloth rights that do not exist within the US Constitution which is why we constently here about the need for the Constitution to be a "living and breathing" document instead of the rock solid verbage it was intended to be.  The Kelo decision was the most troubling as it now invalidates our right under the Constitution to "Personal Property"!  No more is an American home his ultimate castle.  The Government, through the court, can now just seize it from you and give it to another individual party. 

I have, for the last 6 years, have stood in front of my conservative friends and tried to convince them that all is not lost.  The repeated blows that America has endured through methodical steps away from individual liberty has taken its toll on those who love this country as Ronald Reagan did.  When I joined the US Navy in 1977 (Carter was my 1st Commander in Chief) and I passed the ASVAB tests and the myriad of physicals then stood in a room with 50 others and raised my right hand to take the Oath to uphold and Defend the Constitution against all enemies, both foreign and Domestic, I did so with great pride and honor.  In fact, that pride and honor has never left me to this day as I feel just as strongly today about that Oath as the day I took it. 

This is the "spirit" that I tried to instill in my fellow conservative friends who were worried and scared that the inertia this country was travelling in was unstoppable.  What can any one person do, they asked?  Though I too was worried, I have always known that Americans could not and would not succumb to socialism without a fight.  I have always known that there are many who are willing to sacrifice their time and money to ensure it would not happen in the way they feared.  Then, we began to see it happen. 

Now we see that the inertia is swinging back in the right direction.  The Democrats and Republicans RINO's who follow the Democrats are the ones who are worried.  In fact, they are downright scared and they should be.  Their Utopian dream is crumbling.  When panick ensues then mistakes are made and the biggest mistake that Obama just made will be one that seals his fate (mark my words). 

When Obama said "If you have a business, you didn't build that" meme!

That slap across America's individual face will be his undoing.  Businesses are built from an idea.  The idea comes from an individual.  That one Socialistic statement should worry the Democrats as it resonated with us individuals who are now collectively banding together to destroy his vision of enslavement.

Are Universities breeding violent subversives


The Colorado theatre shooter has been described as a brilliant young man who just completed his first year of his PHD program.  Though this violent incident of mass murder did not occur on a college campus, the role of his attendance is prominently on display and quite frankly may be intertwined into his motive for committing the act.

As information is disceminated about this "bright" young man we now have learned that a notebook of his was mailed to a campus phychiatrist where it sat, unopened, until recently discovered.  We also have learned that his defense lawyer has filed a motion to suppress the notebook from evidence as it is protected under "doctor-patient" priveledge and if successful, we may never know its content.

There is, with any high profile murder spree cases, the immediate call from those who seek to take our 2nd amendment rights away because this is what happens when someone has a gun in their possession.  This case was no different and those on the left wasted no time in demanding more gun control laws.

Ah, but this was not the case with a case that is slated to go to trial, after much delay, for a mass shooting case in Huntsville, Alabama.  Before I get to the specifics it is a case where three people were shot dead and three others wounded on the University of Alabama Huntsville campus in March 2009 less than 2 years after the Virgina Tech massacre.

A shooter lets loose on campus, with a gun, targeting faculty members and no outcry from the gun control lobby.  How so, you ask.

 I suspect the reasoning behind the media blackout of this particular crime has something to do with the fact that the suspect is, um, a college professor herself.  Amy Bishop goes on trial in less than a month and it will be curious to watch how the media handles the crime as it relates to gun control.  This case really no different because of the mental illness angle the defense is taking.  Yet, once Bishop was arrested and her background began to trickle out we find that she also shot and killed her own brother years earlier, fled that scene with the shotgun until blocks away was apprehended after attempting to steal a vehicle at gun point at a dealership.  We also learned that Bishop and her husband were suspects in a pipe bomb case years earlier. 

Then again, what about University of Alabama professor George Zinkhan who gunned down his ex-wife and and two other men outside a movie theater just off campus just a month after Bishop, another Professor killed three.  Once again, not a peep from the gun control folks.

 When you stop to consider the indoctrination of our youth in socialist theology at the hands of Professors such as Bill Ayers, Bernadine Dohrn, Ward Churchill, Angela Davis and many other radical leftists one can only surmise that it has to have an impact on our youth.

If you own a business -- you didn't build that

Much consternation has been vented since Obama declared the above.  When you think you've heard it all from this lying President he goes and opens his mouth again.  Surpirse.....

But for all the press that has been inked as a result of this particular speech there has been one aspect of it that has received no scrutiny at all.  This is the part of the speech I bring your attention to and please, focus on it:

If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help.  There was a great teacher somewhere in your life.  Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive.  Somebody invested in roads and bridges.  If you’ve got a business -- you didn’t build that. -- Washington Times

So, Obama admits that the American system is "unbelievable" allowing us to thrive!  What I want to know then is why has he repeatedly, since taking office been telling us that Capitalism has failed? That we cannot go back to the "old ways". 

Which is it?  Obama.... Which is it?

I think we all know the answer to that question..

Obama's early Immigration fraud - Part I

Everyone is well aware that this President is obsessed with allowing illegal immigrants to flow into this country unabated.  The Administration just announced the closure of 9 Border patrol stations in 4 border states amid outcry's of outragiousness.

A recent article was just posted on WND about the legitamacy of Barack Obama's paternity and circumstances surrounding his claim to Barack Obama Sr. (as his father) and S. Ann Dunham (as his mother). 

I have delved deeply into the "birther" aspect of the usurper president because of the secrecy and time/expense expended by the President and his backer to withhold his birth certificate as well as his college transcripts.

The void of information on Obama's past and the extreme nature of his reluctance to divuldge documents that could have clearly and definitevly closed the door on the conspiracy theories is my personal desire to fill in the blanks.

This article, replete with INS documents raised all sorts of questions in my mind that the author did not intend, but go to the heart of many questions that surround Obama in regards to immigration and even his obsession with all things racial.

The Obama college transcripts (admission forms, grades, letters of support etc) would go a long way to explain things.  Thing like -- did Obama enter college as a "foreign student" like his father?  I found it intriguing that in the months leading up to the 2008 Presidential election their was a "breach" at the State Department where as John McCain, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama's passport files were illegally obtained by "temp workers/contractors" employed by a Company that John O. Brennan (Obama's Chief Counterterrorism advisor) was the President and CEO of.

Two of the contractors involved in the breach were "let go" before anyone from the Justice Department could interview them due to the crime.  Then, just weeks later, a witness who was cooperating with Federal investigators was murdered and to this day that crime remains unsolved.

Obama's passport would have answered alot of these questions as well.  What country is listed as his own?  Is it an American passport, Indonesian passport etc.  We do know that those who successfully breached and saw Obama's passport files worked for Obama's White House cabinet member in a very powerful position.  Was this the "quid pro quo" to keep his (John O. Brennan) silence?  Is the death of the only supportive witness connected to the crime?

I digress because it is only through the brave actions of Sherrif Joe Arpaio investigating Obama today on many fronts with his Posse'.

GOP smell test

Is it just me or is the GOP (democrat lite) old guard kidding anyone?  We conservatives have known for a very long time now that the GOP has lost its way and behave well, like Democrats.  They are big government, pork barrel spenders that want to erode indivual liberties.  Yeah, I said it.  The GOP became obvious in their "heir apparent" political hack system ever since Ronald Reagan left office.  It became painful to vote when they propped up John McCain just to watch him appease and bow to the usurper now in office without any fight one would expect from a war hero.

If you remember who McCain had to beat (figuratively speaking of course) in the GOP primaries it was, er, Mitt Romney who then became the "heir apparent" this election cycle.  Who would have thought that after McCain, the GOP would give us Obama lite with Mitt Romney.  The very person who we need to contrast Obamacare was the "George Washington" of Obamacare in Romneycare.  So again this election cycle we have to hold our collective noses and vote for the lesser of two evils.

In a press conference June 30, John Boehner tipped his "old guard" hat when he stated: 

"The American people probably aren’t going to fall in love with Mitt Romney. I’ll tell you this: 95 percent of the people that show up to vote in November are going to show up in that voting booth, and they are going to vote for or against Barack Obama.”


So what this means is this "Barack Obama is again running unapposed" except that he is running against himself?  If this doesn't fire up the conservative base to throw the RINO's out on their collective asses irregardless of a Mitt Romney win is imperative.

The only hope is that the tea party conservatives have enough candidates to stop Mitt from doing the same type of damage that Obama has done until the old guard is shuffled off into the dust bin of history......




Obama policies v. law

One of my favorite commentators is Dr. Charles Krathammer and his recent article published at National Review Online is, as it always is, simplistic in his explanation of fact.  The article I point to is titled "The Imperial Presidency of Barack Obama" and it lays out the case that "this Administration is unable to distringuish its policy from law" giving the Arizona Immigration case recently decided by the US Supreme Court!

He best sums it up with the following paragraph:  "Consider this breathtaking cascade: An administration violates its constitutional duty to execute the law by deliberately refusing to enforce it. It then characterizes its non-enforcement as simply establishing priorities. It then tries to strike down a state law on immigration on the grounds that it contradicts federal law — by actually trying to enforce it!


Another example he cites of the Administrations policy here "The Department of Health and Human Services issues Obamacare regulations treading so heavily on the free-exercise rights of Catholic institutions that Obama’s own allies rebel. The new regulation concocted to tame the firestorm blithely orders private insurers to provide free contraceptives to employees of the objecting religious institutions. By what possible authority does a president order private companies to provide free services? To say nothing of the 1,200 Obamacare waivers granted with royal arbitrariness according to the (political) whims of an HHS secretary."

So, what do you make of it all?  There are limited powers under the US Constitution granted to the Federal Government and one is the protection of its citizens with a robust border security.  Whereas this Administration shuns the Constitutional where ever and how ever it please it is literally getting away with murder.  Fast and Furious proves that point with the deaths of over 300 Mexican nationals and 2 Federal Law enforcement officers blanketed protectively under "Executive Priveledge"!

Democrat's war footing

The war against women.  The war against the middle class.  The war against hispanics/immigrants.  These are the charges of the left consistently.  But, who (Democrats or Republicans) are actually at war with these groups?

“This is absolutely a war against women,” said Terry O’Neill, president of the National Organization for Women, which advocates for women’s equality. “It’s deliberate, intentional and as serious as a heart attack.”

She was talking about a topic that has just begun to sizzle on the political hotplate: a Republican-led campaign to undermine women’s reproductive rights across the states as well as federal jurisdictions.

Using religious rights, fiscal restraint and an ongoing U.S. culture war as weapons, it has targeted abortion, contraception, even rape laws." -- Olivia Ward, thespec.com 3/11/2012

NOW complains that the right is using "religious rights, fiscal restraint and on ongoing US culture war as weapons.  No kidding?  Of course we are using "religious rights" as Obama's executive order to force free contraceptive coverage for those who object based on their beliefs.  Of course we are using "fiscal restraints" as we cannot afford any more nanny statism free-bees regardless of the religious implications. 

Under Obama, since 2008, there are 766,000 more women unemployed. 

Yet, if you are a woman who has not lost your job and you actually work for a Democrat as a "staffer" then your pay in-equality is front and center.  Accorder to Andrew Stiles, The Washington Free Beacon, article dated 5/24/12 --

"The employee gender pay gap among Senate Democrats was not limited to Murray, Boxer, and Feinstein. Of the 50 members of the Senate Democratic caucus examined in the analysis, 37 senators paid their female staffers less than male staffers.


Senators elected in 2010—Joe Manchin, Chris Coons, and Richard Blumenthal—were not considered due to incomplete salary data.

Women working for Senate Democrats in 2011 pulled in an average salary of $60,877. Men made about $6,500 more.

While the gap is significant, it is slightly smaller than that of the White House, which pays men about $10,000, or 13 percent, more on average, according to a previous Free Beacon analysis.

The pay differential is quite striking in some cases, especially among leading Democrats. Sen. Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.), who runs the Senate Democratic messaging operation, paid men $19,454 more on average, a 36 percent difference.

Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D., Ill.) paid men $13,063 more, a difference of 23 percent.

Other notable Senators whose “gender pay gap” was larger than 23 percent:

•Sen. Tom Harkin (D., Iowa)—23.2 percent

The war on the middle class belongs to the Democrats lock, stock and barrel.  According to our own government statistics, over the last three years (Obama's term) Family net worth has dropped by 40%!

Finally, in order to put an end to the fallacy that the Republicans are at war with Hispanics you need to look no further than the Obama Administration and "Fast and Furious" scandal.  In addition to the death of Brian Terry, the border patrol agent killed by weapons that we allowed to "walk", there have been over 300 deaths of Mexicans on the Mexico side of the border.  300 deaths.  Whom is at war with whom? 





Liar, Liar

What do you personally think and do when someone you know has deceived you or worse, outright lied to you?  I think human history as well as human behavior answers that without any thought.  You --

1) Do not trust them anymore
2) Shun them from your life, or hold them at extreme arms length but in any case insulate yourself to their future ability to hurt you again

You know the axiom, fool me one shame on you, fool me twice shame on me!

In a marraige where trust is lost due to lying it does irrepairable damage to the harmony that was lost between parties.

Now, with that in mind, and with as much objectivity you can muster ask your the following question:

Is Barack Obama a liar

The list of his most prominent lies are well documented.  The link above lists them, with links to validate them, so what do we do with that?

Can we trust him at all?  I say no, resoundingly!  What to do?

It is apparently clear what we need to do and that is send him packing all the way to the unemployment line to enable him to be his own consistent statistic.

We know and understand that politicians lie as a matter of course, and we elect them anyway so another question to ponder is -- is a campaign promise that is broken considered a lie?  A campaign promise that is so absurd that we understand that it can never be achieved as soon as it leaves the lips.  Has our country slipped to the level that lying is acceptable course of our everyday lives?

Are we going to allow ourselves to be fooled so many times that the lies are actually rewarded to our own detriment?

We know that he wasn't vetted prior to his acendancy and the only thing we were allowed to glimpse of him was the portrait that he himself painted through his books.  We now know that even that was a lie.  His dishonesty is dangerous, his dishonesty is contradictory to everything we know to hold true as humans so how will this play out in November?

He is not transparent, he is not open and he is not honest.

It is to the point that we, the American people do not need anymore vetting of him because we have enough now to say NO.

But, the real question is, can we?

From Auschwitz to Planned Parenthood

Matt Barber at World Net Daily posted a penned article titled "Abortion "holocaust"? If the Shoe Fits yesterday that was pretty compelling.  The article was a quasi book review/biography of author Eric Metaxas' new book titled "Bonhoeffer". 

Pro-Choice advocates have always turned a blind eye to the real fact that abortion is murder.  They cloak their arguments in semantic word switch to justify this murder.  Since Roe v. Wade 55 million unborn humans have been slaughtered.  This number is inherently larger than all of the deaths combined as a result of Hitler's semantic argument against Jews, Enemies of the State, Gays, Gypsies and disabled individuals that they were imminent threats to the mother's (The motherland) life.

Bonhoeffer penned a book titled "Ethics" whereas he approached the question of abortion supporters main argument that an embryo is not a person until it's born.  Though Roe v. Wade would not legitimize murder for some 30+ years, Bonhoeffer approached that very question from a theological point of view when he said --  "To raise the question whether we are here concerned already with a human being or not is merely to confuse the issue. The simple fact is that God certainly intended to create a human being and that this nascent human being has been deliberately deprived of his life. And that is nothing but murder,”

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.”Psalm 139:13

There are positive signs that the semantics deployed in support of the "Pro-Choice" argument are begginning to crumble.  As Matt Barber writes "Mind-boggling is the human capacity to rationalize genocide" is profound in the success of the semantics.  For instance, the term "pro-choice" is a fine example of this sleigh of hand used to confuse the ultimate act of murder.

The other terms deployed are "womans right to her own body", "to protect the mothers health" and "family planning".  The fact that "family planning" is an oxy-moron is irrelevent.  Utilizing the words "family, health and rights" is intentionally devious.  They've struggled long and hard, and with much success, to dehumanize unborn children by placing upon them such euphemistic, innocuous, and clinical tags as "zygote," "embryo," "fetus," and my personal favorite, "non-viable mass of tissue." -- Canada Free Press, J. In 1969, prior to Roe v. Wade, I vividly remember the Manson murders.  I was a 10 year old boy living in "North Hollywood" California at the time the murders came to light.  The press, in reporting the murder of Sharon Tate, Rosemary and Leno LaBianca, Jay Sebring, Steven Parent, Abigale Folger and Wojciech Frykowski was shocking in and of itself but particularly shocking was the fact that Sharon Tate who was stabbed 16 times, was 8 months pregnant at the time. 

At the conclusion of the trial and the conviction of the Manson family of the murders it was devoid of another conviction of murder -- Sharon Tate's unborn child.  The child did not warrant a criminal murder charge.

In 2002, some 33 years after the death of Sharon Tate, another murder occurred in the State of California when Laci Peterson (8 months pregnant) went missing.  The conviction of Scott Peterson had a profound effect on reversing this State sanctioned murder when the murder conviction of Laci Peterson's unborn child.  After the trial and conviction, the success of "rights for the unborn" was increased further, much to the dismay of the Pro-Choice community when "President Bush signed the ‘Laci and Conner's Law' (the Unborn Victims of Violence Act) making it a federal crime to harm an unborn child during an assault on the mother.

It's the first Federal law to give unborn children a status separate from their mothers. Additionally, it's the first federal law to more accurately refer to the "fetus" as an unborn child." -- Canada Free Press


So, who was Bonhoeffer?  If you like Nazi intrigue and those who fought to overthrow Hitler then this should be a compelling read.  I like to think he will be the one that will make the Pro-Choice movment squirm in their seats, just as Obama did when the author of Bonhoeffer made him do when he personally gave him a copy of that very book.

A deeply divided Nation -- Parallels

The question that weights on my mind is this:  Are the elected representatives truly acting in their capacity or are they not representative of the people's interest?  There is alot to be said about the latter in spite of the fact that we have a formal US Constitution. 

Though we have witnessed many incidents over the years from different sectors of our Government that have acted contrary to our founding document it is the speed and breadth of recent events that I fear have put us (the people) in another precarious position as the "Continental Congress" found themselve in in 1773 when they revolted against the British Crown and the "Tea Act". 

I have posted the "Declaration of Independence" on a separate post because it needs to stand on it's own for all to read and interpret it's true meaning.  We must take a fresh look at it and put it in context of today's current events that are dividing us.  Divide and Conquer?

Just as the Contenental Congress petitioned the British Crown for redress and were denied we too have petitioned our legislators to redress and we too are denied.  Just as the "Boston Tea Party" movement acted in defiance to the taxation without representation, the modern day "Tea Party" was forged out of frustration and is moving forward under it's own inertia much to the chagrine of our elitist leaders.

In 2005 the Supreme Court handed down the Kelo Decision where it is now possible for the Government to seize personal property (our homes) as long as the "tax" benefit of the community is for the greater good of the community and hand this property over to another private entity.  Who would have thought that a Conservative majority court have acted in this manner?  We the people now understand that there is no difference between Conservative, Liberal, Republican, Democrat as it pertains to our representatives userpage of our rights.

Now, our representatives have lied, cajoled and bribed their way into the Obamacare law.  It is no secret that the majority of America does not want this legislation.  Yet, another Conservative leaning court has usurped the will of the people yet again.

As long as it is a tax, which Obama defined as a penalty and to this day still argues it is not a tax, it is constitutionally mustered.

We the people as slowly moving to another historic moment in which we must decide when enough is enough of the tyranny and the manner in which we must throw the yoke of this tyranny off?

When, in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shown that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security. --Such has been the patient sufferance of these colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former systems of government. The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute tyranny over these states. To prove this, let facts be submitted to a candid world.


He has refused his assent to laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.


He has forbidden his governors to pass laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.


He has refused to pass other laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of representation in the legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.

He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.

He has dissolved representative houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.


He has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected; whereby the legislative powers, incapable of annihilation, have returned to the people at large for their exercise; the state remaining in the meantime exposed to all the dangers of invasion from without, and convulsions within.


He has endeavored to prevent the population of these states; for that purpose obstructing the laws for naturalization of foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migration hither, and raising the conditions of new appropriations of lands.

He has obstructed the administration of justice, by refusing his assent to laws for establishing judiciary powers.


He has made judges dependent on his will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.

He has erected a multitude of new offices, and sent hither swarms of officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance.

He has kept among us, in times of peace, standing armies without the consent of our legislature.

He has affected to render the military independent of and superior to civil power.

He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his assent to their acts of pretended legislation:

For protecting them, by mock trial, from punishment for any murders which they should commit on the inhabitants of these states:


For cutting off our trade with all parts of the world:


For imposing taxes on us without our consent:

For depriving us in many cases, of the benefits of trial by jury:


For transporting us beyond seas to be tried for pretended offenses:


For abolishing the free system of English laws in a neighboring province, establishing therein an arbitrary government, and enlarging its boundaries so as to render it at once an example and fit instrument for introducing the same absolute rule in these colonies:

For taking away our charters, abolishing our most valuable laws, and altering fundamentally the forms of our governments:

For suspending our own legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever.


He has abdicated government here, by declaring us out of his protection and waging war against us.


He has plundered our seas, ravaged our coasts, burned our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people.


He is at this time transporting large armies of foreign mercenaries to complete the works of death, desolation and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of cruelty and perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the head of a civilized nation.

He has constrained our fellow citizens taken captive on the high seas to bear arms against their country, to become the executioners of their friends and brethren, or to fall themselves by their hands.

He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavored to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian savages, whose known rule of warfare, is undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.

In every stage of these oppressions we have petitioned for redress in the most humble terms: our repeated petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.

Nor have we been wanting in attention to our British brethren. We have warned them from time to time of attempts by their legislature to extend an unwarrantable jurisdiction over us. We have reminded them of the circumstances of our emigration and settlement here. We have appealed to their native justice and magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the ties of our common kindred to disavow these usurpations, which, would inevitably interrupt our connections and correspondence. They too have been deaf to the voice of justice and of consanguinity. We must, therefore, acquiesce in the necessity, which denounces our separation, and hold them, as we hold the rest of mankind, enemies in war, in peace friends.

We, therefore, the representatives of the United States of America, in General Congress, assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the name, and by the authority of the good people of these colonies, solemnly publish and declare, that these united colonies are, and of right ought to be free and independent states; that they are absolved from all allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the state of Great Britain, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as free and independent states, they have full power to levy war, conclude peace, contract alliances, establish commerce, and to do all other acts and things which independent states may of right do. And for the support of this declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.
