American Citizen Armed Revolt

An expert testified today to Congress -- "He said that the precedent set by Obama could eventually lead to an armed revolt against the federal government.
On Tuesday, Michael Cannon, Cato Institute’s Director of Health Policy Studies, testified before a congressional committee about the dangers of the president’s legal behavior.

“There is one last thing to which the people can resort if the government does not respect the restrains that the constitution places on the government,” Cannon said. “Abraham Lincoln talked about our right to alter our government or our revolutionary right to overthrow it.”

“That is certainly something that no one wants to contemplate,” he continued. “If the people come to believe that the government is no longer constrained by the laws then they will conclude that neither are they.”

“That is a very dangerous sort of thing for the president to do, to wantonly ignore the laws,” Cannon concluded, “to try to impose obligation upon people that the legislature did not approve.”

Mr. Cannon indicates that - “If the people come to believe that the government is no longer constrained by the laws then they will conclude that neither are they.”   This statement is ironic because if the people rise up they will be within the Constitution to do so and in fact not break the law in doing so.

  1. There is no leader who will arise that an armed population will follow.
The military has been purged of those loyal to the Constitution.

  2. I like this healthcare expert fella. He can be in my post-obama clan. Sadly, Ed is correct also.

  3. Naw, Ed. Wrong. You could not possibly be more wrong.

Revolutions are led from those on the outside, not from within. And the current US armed forces will not turn their guns on their own population of whom they have sworn oaths under God to protect, the guys and gals who wear the uniform simply won't follow those kinds of orders. They won't, trust me on this one, Ed. I used to wear the uniform myself for quite awhile, and I know my troops.

Here in the good ol' US of A, an ordinary Joe, perhaps someone very much like "Joe the Plumber," will immediately gain popularity and subsequently loyalty through current technology such as social networks, not controlled by those from within.

Ed, I think this is the first time you have ever been wrong. I am stunned.

  4. You are wrong on both counts Ed. It may not happen on day one, but there are enough Americans, both in and out of the military who are sick and tired of all the bullshit government has been getting away with to mount a successful revolution. It's happened here before and I believe it will happen again. SOONER rather than later!

  5. Sadly, every form of group communication today is monitored by the government. Someone tell me how 4 people are going to get together to plan the strategies ? let alone the execution.

AND isn't it interesting that the government has gotten this evil Right about the time all of the communication monitoring was able to be put in place via the Digitizing of everything.

  6. Fredd, sorry to disappoint.
I've heard and seen Cannon on a few shows since, and NO ONE asked him about those comments.
I'm ex mil. I am armed and willing.
Excuse me, someone's at the door.
    I'll be right back...

  7. While it is true that the Gov't monitors a great deal of communication data they do not have the will of the people. There are current and retired and ex=military members throughout this great land. They have networks of friends who served with them as well as friends in general. When the shit hits the fan and the first shot fired (by whom I cannot guess) those networks will rally, train and provide the leadership needed. Look at Oathkeepers, minutemen as well as the "American Project" for the comfort to ease your sadness Kid. I would rather be on our side of the skirmish lines than theirs. Besides, they do not have the brass balls to actually fight in what they believe in and are miscalculating that others will for them.
