A deeply divided Nation -- Parallels

The question that weights on my mind is this:  Are the elected representatives truly acting in their capacity or are they not representative of the people's interest?  There is alot to be said about the latter in spite of the fact that we have a formal US Constitution. 

Though we have witnessed many incidents over the years from different sectors of our Government that have acted contrary to our founding document it is the speed and breadth of recent events that I fear have put us (the people) in another precarious position as the "Continental Congress" found themselve in in 1773 when they revolted against the British Crown and the "Tea Act". 

I have posted the "Declaration of Independence" on a separate post because it needs to stand on it's own for all to read and interpret it's true meaning.  We must take a fresh look at it and put it in context of today's current events that are dividing us.  Divide and Conquer?

Just as the Contenental Congress petitioned the British Crown for redress and were denied we too have petitioned our legislators to redress and we too are denied.  Just as the "Boston Tea Party" movement acted in defiance to the taxation without representation, the modern day "Tea Party" was forged out of frustration and is moving forward under it's own inertia much to the chagrine of our elitist leaders.

In 2005 the Supreme Court handed down the Kelo Decision where it is now possible for the Government to seize personal property (our homes) as long as the "tax" benefit of the community is for the greater good of the community and hand this property over to another private entity.  Who would have thought that a Conservative majority court have acted in this manner?  We the people now understand that there is no difference between Conservative, Liberal, Republican, Democrat as it pertains to our representatives userpage of our rights.

Now, our representatives have lied, cajoled and bribed their way into the Obamacare law.  It is no secret that the majority of America does not want this legislation.  Yet, another Conservative leaning court has usurped the will of the people yet again.

As long as it is a tax, which Obama defined as a penalty and to this day still argues it is not a tax, it is constitutionally mustered.

We the people as slowly moving to another historic moment in which we must decide when enough is enough of the tyranny and the manner in which we must throw the yoke of this tyranny off?

  1. American politicians have kicked the can down the road to the point where politicians feel the can can't be saved anymore and there is no where else to kick it to.

    The problems are deep and complicated and the tools used to fix them unavailable.

    The problems are massive government departments operating daily and going in the wrong direction in important areas such as education and energy.

    The tools are a healthy growing economy, and a voting base on patriotic, self-accountable citizens who are by majority solutions (productive and educated) rather than problems themselves. (constant drains on the productive)

    Add in all the entry level jobs being handed over to China, India by bubba clinton and we're fast becoming a nation of ignorance and dependency that will eventually outstay the welcome of the productive.

    So, back to the point. I estimate there are a few good politicians, most of them Tea Party. The vast majority are actually the enemy(Marxists), or are buffoons themselves, running for office for purely self-serving reasons, or not intelligent enough to have any clue about what the possible solutions could be so they give in to the dark side or accept their own impotence and cash in like the rest.

    Most of them have to be purged, but that can't happen until voters understand the problem themselves and too many of them (In democrat heavy areas) don't even think there is a problem,

  2. Your comment is thought provoking and well said and cuts to the heart of the matter quickly. I, myself, have alot of faith that there are many more of us (like you and I) who do have a clue. They are black, white, hispanic, gay, christian, muslim etc because this is, after all, America (the melting pot). As such there have been very positive signs that we can cling to that the lurch to the left has lost its momentum and Americans are going to fight to get back what America is suppose to be. This is in spite of the fact that many, too many, are now in precarious positions financially. We do not want hand outs, we want jobs. We, I believe, will see a reckoning come November that will see this lawless Administration standing in the same unemployment lines like the rest of us. I will take time to unravel the gordian knot they have created legislatively as well as administratively. We will start to hold those we elect accountable to ensure that what they said to get elected is what they do. The old Reagan axiom "trust but verify" will apply.

      Yes, there are a bunch of us in all flavors. That's the optimistic part. We'll see in November.
