Firearm "Factoid" - from we the People blogsite

An interesting letter in the Australian Shooter Magazine this week, which I quote: "If you consider that there has been an average of 160,000 troops in the Iraq theater of operations during the past 22 months, and a total of 2112 deaths, that gives a firearm death rate of 60 per 100,000 soldiers.

The firearm death rate in Washington, DC is 80.6 per 100,000 for the same period. That means you are about 25 percent more likely to be shot and killed in the US capital, which has some of the strictest gun control laws in the US, than you are in Iraq ... Conclusion:

"The US should pull out of Washington ..."

  1. Hello,

Actually the weapons are terrible both in peace and in war.

Perhaps one day mankind will unite in one God, believe that we are only one part of the world and therefore eliminate another human being is a big nonsense.

Thanks for stopping by on my blog. The issues you address in your blog is very interesting.

    Kisses and Peace!

  2. Unfortunately the only road to this peace of which you speak is through strength. The strength to confront the evils of man and the strength to fight against the evil in which we find. Herein lies the paradox.

First, the description of evil for many are different. Some see Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro, the President of Iran as evil and many others who consider them as revolutionaries providing for their masses through socialist collectivism.

The other, as you so aptly described is religion. Many forms of religion are considered intolerant to other forms. This dates back many thousands of years so finding common ground without blood has been difficult at best. There have been many transformations, or modernizations through moderation such as Christianity did since the "dark ages". We await the same moderation from Islam today who are still stuck in the 7th century in their beliefs and forced conversion of the "infidels, or unbelievers".

Thanks for the compliment as I only strive to reach the same page you are on, peace and love for all.
